MIXED USE
Leavened Bakery
at The Tappan
Inspired by the neighborhood’s long history in textile manufacturing, the design relies on tactile richness of materials and borrows from the concept of weaving.
—Always By Design
Leavened, an artisan bakery in Cleveland’s near-west side, occupies the ground floor of The Tappan, a four-story, 95-unit residential development.
The bakery sits between the street corner and a breezeway connecting the street to an intimate pocket park. The bakery is wrapped in full-height glass, which exhibits its bright modern interior to pedestrians.
Inspired by the neighborhood’s long history in textile manufacturing, the design relies on tactile richness of materials and borrows from the concept of weaving.
